Currently live to an audience of hungry and passionate gamers, the annual video game trade fair known as Gamescom is currently spearheading its purpose to show the latest and greatest things to come straight from world leading video game developers and publishers.
One of the more prominent showcases happens to be in the fighting game genre, and it comes right from developer Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios, most famous for their legendary Mortal Kombat franchise. If you haven’t heard the news yet, the guys behind the beloved fatality series are making a new fighter based on DC Comics’ own universe of superheroes, and it’s set on an alternate timeline where the heroes and villains brawl against one another, threatening the earth with their power and might.
So far, the line up for Injustice has been typically bare, save for the inclusion of notable faces from the Justice League. Mainstays like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash have been confirmed for the game, as well as other fan-favorites like Nightwing and Harley Quinn.
Notable villains like Lex Luthor and The Joker are strongly hinted to appear in the game, but whether or not they are playable remains to be seen. However, according to Kotaku.com, the new Gamescom trailer has revealed a new selectable character that will undeniably make fans flip head-over-heels. It’s none other than the sexy thief herself Selina Kyle, better known to fans of the Batman universe as Catwoman!
Primed for release sometime in 2013, Injustice: Gods Among Us looks to be setting up a storm for DC Comics fans itching for a worthy fighting game featuring their favorite heroes and villains. With mechanics that center on power and gadget use as well as various environments that are interactive and could turn the tide of battle, this is one game from the makers of Mortal Kombat that will certainly entice gamers to pay attention. The game is due to be released for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.
